New surveillance video shows a high school coach’s encounter with a student armed with a shotgun. The 18-year-old brought the loaded gun to Parkrose High School in Portland, Oregon, last spring. Football coach Keanon Lowe saw the armed student and immediately took action, wrestling the gun away as other students ran for their lives. After handing the gun off safely to a teacher, Coach Lowe then grabbed the young man and hugged him.
Hailed as a hero, Lowe humbly remarked, “I was there to save him. I was there for a reason. This is a life worth living.” In another statement , Lowe added, “This is a story that usually ends in tragedy. From God's will, this ended up well. We were in the headlines, but it wasn't a tragedy. I am thankful for that.”
